Amazon’s Fire Tablet discount makes it cheaper than All Time 2022

This past Sunday, Amazon gave me a weird choice. I could order a two-pack of my favorite chocolate bars from Trader Joe’s as a gift for friends and family, or buy an Amazon Fire Tablet with its offer to pick it up the next time I was in the store.

The Chocolate Passport is eight different chocolate bars from around the world, packaged together into one bag at Trader Joe’s. It costs $12.99.

I didn’t order the pack of two Chocolate Passports because Amazon has been offering deals on its Fire Tablets all week: An 8GB Kindle Fire HDX tablet for $89 (marked down from $229), and a 7-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet for $49 (down from $99).

The decision was easy. I bought the Kindle Fire HD tablet.

The $89 Fire HDX has a 1920×1200 display and an 8.9-inch screen. It’s also thinner and lighter than the $49 Kindle Fire HD, which has a 1280×800 display and a 7-inch screen.

Both tablets come with free unlimited cloud storage for photos taken with the devices, as well as a $10 credit to spend on Amazon MP3s.

The Fire Tablet is also cheaper than the All Time 2021 Chocolate Passport, which will set you back $13.18 if purchased from Amazon.

This isn’t the first time that Amazon has undercut Trader Joe’s prices: The company slashed prices on diapers and baby wipes on Prime Day, while promising Amazon Mom members an additional 20 percent off.

The Fire Tablet is available for pre-order now and ships on Aug. 5.

Keywords to exclude:

– Amazon’s Fire Tablet discount makes it cheaper than All Time 2021 (I don’t want this blog post filled with comments about how I’m wrong for buying the Kindle Fire HDX, or how great the Chocolate Passport is)

– Amazon’s Fire Tablet discount makes it cheaper (ditto)

– $89 (not relevant)

– $12.99 (ditto)

– Trader Joe’s (this isn’t of any interest to people who didn’t buy their last holiday gift at TJs!)

– Amazon MP3s (these are different from the Chocolate Passport, I don’t want people thinking they can buy this instead!)

– Kindle Fire HDX (this is too expensive for non-techies to purchase as a gift)

– Free unlimited cloud storage (too specific to Amazon’s products)

– 1920×1200 display (most people won’t know what this means, or be able to follow it up with Google searches about its significance)

– An 8.9-inch screen (ditto)

– It’s also thinner and lighter than the $49 Kindle Fire HD, which has a 1280×800 display and a 7-inch screen. (if you don’t know these mean, you shouldn’t be buying a Kindle Fire HDX!)

– Comes with a $10 credit to spend on Amazon MP3s (again, too specific)

– Pre-order now and ships on Aug. 5 (information that is too soon for people to act on)
